The center of the coin depicts the signatures and seals of the Austrian State Treaty, signed by the foreign ministers and ambassadors of the Soviet Union, Great Britain, the United States and France, as well as Leopold Figl, the Austrian Foreign Minister, in May 1955.

Above the seals is the inscription "50 JAHRE STAATSVERTRAG" and below them is the year of issue, 2005. The vertical stripes in the background represent the national colors of Austria (red-white-red). The outer ring of the coin features the 12 EU stars.
